Impressions so far:
It has a 1200 mile break in period that the dealer seemed pretty medieval about so I will respect it.
A. Keep in under 100MPH
B. Keep it under 5500 RPM
C. Do not hammer it and engage the gear shift down
I can tell that it is beast, keeping within the 5500 RPM break in limit is hard to do, it comes up quickly.
The technology is very similar to my 2009 750, almost exact with a few upgrades. The parking assistance is wild, true bird’s eye view of the whole car. The shifting is insanely fast, either manual with the paddles or in automatic mode it switches gears far faster than anything I have driven before.
The steering and feel is true BMW, only on roid’s! In Sport+ mode, stiff and responsive is a huge understatement.
I will post some more once I can treat it a little more like the beats it is. I am drooling over using the launch control.

Wow that is a big car. I wonder why they are so strict with break in period? Doesn't Lamborghini drive all their cars hard before shipping them?

Man.... F**k break in periods. From experience working at a Porsche dealer, and dealing with numerous other new vehicles, I can tell you that the techs drive each of these cars hard waaaay before they ever reach a customer. It's all part of the PDI at the dealer. This is especially true for high performance cars. Wouldn't you rather have a dealer tech experience an engine failure prior to your delivery, or a wheel come off during their PDI than on your first blast through the gears? I personally believe in the "drive it like you stole it" mantra. Now, warming up and cooling off are essential to any vehicle, especially FI engine-equipped cars, and of course regular, often extra vigilant maintenance. I've found that formula results in the best driving/ownership experience.

"Carpe Diem" or for the less educated: "YOLO"
