M5 ED gravy train is over
Due to the dbag westcoast dealers complaints, M5 ED orders now has to come out of dealer allocation, so no matter the delivery method, you are not going to see 500 to 1500 over ED invoice for quite some time.
Everyone who has an ED production number is safe, the rest, well you are looking at MSRP or more.
Congrats go the 22 people that are picking up theirs at the welt on 9/1.

BMW's sold via the ED program do not come out of the dealer allocation. So, it literally is free money to the dealer. All they have to do is fill out some forms, and they make the $$$ they charge over ED invoice free and clear, plus the hold back.
The F10 M5 did not used to come out of the dealer's allocation, so dealers were able to sell them for $500 to $1500 over ED invoice.
Apparently, many sourgrape west coast dealers started complaining to BMWNA about how this is killing their business, never mind that people who are getting their car ED's are not the same people who are going to pay MSRP + markup for their cars today. I mean, if they can wait 2 month to get a car, and then another month for it to cross the Atlantic, why would they pay the dealer markup just so they can have it today.
So, bowing to these dbag dealers pressure, BMWNA made the allocation change and now ALL M5's have to come out of dealer allocation regardless of delivery option.
It would be nice to get a list of these sourgrape dealers and post them, but as of right now, it is highly unlikely you will be able to get one for less than MSRP for quite some time.

Wow. Lovely. This is why I hate 90% of dealers out there (BMW or otherwise). It's unfortunate that most of the dealers on my "good" list aren't the massive ones and thus don't end up with lots of allocs for the various cars I'm interested in.
