I would be thinking long and hard right now about picking this one up...

Yep.
If I didn't have the E30 that someone on TS, cough cough, is supposed to buy, I would be thiking pretty hard about getting this as the new beater...
BTW, the SES lights plaguing your E39 M5 has largely been solved through the collective knowledge of the m5board.com. If you were to get one today, they are pretty simple to keep running really well.
