E30 M3... German or U.S. spec? Need help!
#14
As in every other euro car, you should always prefer the euro spec. US versions are usually powered down (emissions), optioned down (bucket seats, cage etc.) and version poor ( no evo2, sport evo etc.)
But as others have stated, if you find a proper one of any spec, don't miss.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your input. As you all mentioned, the Euro spec seems to be the better option. This particular U.S. spec M3 I found was sold in America, then taken to Japan for approximately 17 years (or something like that), then taken to the UK.
Now, I'm not sure if they are true miles or if the engine wasn't tampered, but this model only had approx. 48,000 miles on the odometer. The wear of the interior was consistent with the mileage as well. My only issue was the fact that I couldn't trace the car's service history before Japan; also, in Japan the maintenance was done by an independent supplier / not the dealer.
With cars from Japan, you never know how much they have been tampered with, etc. But to be perfectly honest, the car looked super clean. I just didn't have enough time to make the transaction happen.
In hindsight, it could be a blessing in disguise. Guess I might just stick it out for a Euro spec version, if it ever comes along. Problem is, many have been modified and tampered with.
Have any of you guys heard of special edition versions named after certain drivers, etc.? Someone told me the other day that there were some but I've never heard of them.
Thanks again guys,
El Wehbi
