I don't think the manufacture's claimed top speed is accurate for most cars. The numbers they release are usually pretty conservative. I am almost positive this thing will break the 200mph mark if it is delimited.

Maybe gearing will come in to play... the SMG 7th ratio was not really an overdrive and pulled very very hard. Maybe the DCT 7th is more of an overdrive trading some top speed for lower revs?

That's definitely a possibility, but let's hope that's not the case because the M5 was originally created to terrorize the Autobahn.

And what, you don't think you could do that at 190 miles an hour? . Exactly how much do you need to scare your family?
That's what this place'll do to you. "What, a saloon that can only go 190 miles an hour?! Why, this is preposterous!"

True that!

Our need for speed is a condition which cannot be "cured".

BMW just posted this video from the Frankfurt show:

IAA 2011. Frankfurt Motor Show. BMW - YouTube

"An all time low fuel consumption of the current model fleet and revolutionary concepts - this is BMW at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011."
