Holy expensive M5 leather seat backrest!

So, I am looking to replace the driver side Heritage Nappa leather backrest piece becaues the previous owner, though he put less than 35K miles in 7 years, did wear the side bolster.

Apparently, one single leather piece of this is about 900 bucks! Whereas I can recover both the driver and passenger seats with the never available in the U.S. leather/alcantara combo seats for 1300 bucks.

They look like this. The alcantara part is almost black, very very dark gray. I have seen them in the E46 M3, and they are the same.

So, I will probably get the leather/alcantara pieces since they are cheaper and cooler looking for my M5.

Do it. You plan on keeping it for a while, so whats a few extra bucks to make it really unique.

I'm still jealous you found such a lovely gem.

I looked into that locally for mine. The suggestion i got was to buy a 1/4 hide (enough leather to do 4 cars) and do all 4 bolsters at the same time to guarantee they all look exactly the same. I have seen a few that were done (from pics) one at a time and they don't match.

part numbers for the leather/alcantara front seat covering from BMW:

Upper: 52102498571

Lower: 52102498572

I am not going to change the door panels to leather/alcantara, because my S4 Avant had leather/alcantara seats but leather door panel and it looks pretty good.

If you are so inclined to do so, here are the part numbers:

Left front: 51412498627
Right front: 51412498632

Don't know what's up with rear door panels though, multiple part numbers, but no price on any one of them.

You can also do rear sats, and I may or may not do that. They are here:

bottom: 52202498913

left: 52202498789

right: 52202498790

It's never going to look as good as a direct replacement piece from BMW.

If you want to do it, get them before they become NLA.
