now that I think about it, it does sound a lot like the newest gen E63's as they produce the same "farts" on upshifts...

 

And that's not a bad thing. I thought the latest 6.3l made the most wonderful V8 sounds.

Yesterday I encountered an F10 M5 on the Autobahn A92 which is mostly less frequented and offers a few straights...
So I was going about 200 km/h on the very left lane when I see this 5er with its big mouth closing in my rear mirror.
Being the ass that I am I did not immediatly move over but waited a bit until he was closer so that I can hear im accelerate...and boy,that thing had a nice sound!Def. louder than a stock E60 M5!
But imo it does not has this rumbling V8 sound of a C63 but more of a refined exhaust not..similar to the exotic cars V8s
It was completely undisguised and only had "Erprobungsfahrzeug" written on it which means test car..looked great!

Some time later I saw a nice Milano Beige Alpina F10 B5 S from Switzerland which looked great but did pretty much have no sound at all - even when accelerating hard...disappointing..

 

For me, the sexiest V8 Sounds is either the 6.2L Mercedes from the 63 AMG series or the 5.0L supercharged Jag engine from the XKR-S

Has anybody in here heard the M5 in real life yet?
I`ve encountered it a few times yet and boy that thing is loud(!)(in a nice way) compared to the E60 M5,....the E60 M5 and E63 M6 are much more tame imo
So I`m not sure if it`s just me cause I`m not driving exotics etc or if it really is relatively loud...
