How does this work exactly?

I see direct exit from the center exhaust to the exterior tips. And from before the tips, another pipe that goes into a central silencer wich puts out exhaust through the middle tips.

If the exterior tips do all the work, what is the point of the silencer?

And i also see a by-pass valve, wich i guess send the gases to the muffler direct. But isn't it to abrupt to send the gases to the muffler like that , with no flow??

Beautiful! Does the rear section come in one big piece or do they detatch somewhere? What was nice about the M3's system was that it could be packed in such a small package. Thanks for posting Nate.
