IMHO The Bond franchise went to hell after it ran out of Ian Fleming's storylines. The books are even better than the movies. Casino Royale was harkening back to the REAL Bond, ala' Fleming.
As far as production, Albert Broccoli is dead too, which makes a difference. I am a die hard bond fan though, so I hate to see it end, always hoping for something decent, like Casino Royale to suprise me.
I won't even get into why several Bonds should be slapped for taking the role on.
