Seems like they opened the old family album again and started looking at what once made BMW M cars what they are today ..... and realized that the answer does not lie in pointless X6/5M SUVs.

It will be a fun project to play around with this car, KW coilovers, HRE Comp's, CF exterior parts, roll bar, carbon roof like m3, and more power like 420hp.

back to the good ol days of the E30 M3 :)

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully it doesn't get big and bloated again where we need to hope for a new 0 series M version or something. Also, I hope they don't restrict this for fears of cannibalizing their m3 market...

My hope is that, stock for stock, it significantly outperforms the 135i, otherwise it'd be a waste of money.

of course it will outperform the 135i

and those who say it makes no sense since you can tune a 135i easily to 400hp simply don`t realize that

a) with the 1 M you get a very very solid base for modding it furhter

b) the suspension setup, chassis rigidness, steering etc and the work of the //M engineers will pay

c) the internals will be way stronger than those on the 135i ,so durability - even when heavily modded >400 hp - will be no issue anymore

d) BMWs hp numbers are always very conservative..

I`m thinking about changing my car for another one for quite some time now..

I have test driven the new M3 and the Cayman S...both very cool cars and while the Cayman lacked the power to keep up with the Emmy,it`s midengine and suspension setup just made up for anything because it was such a pleasure to feel and drive it around the backroads.
Great in just about every aspect, except the engine.

now that the 1er M is about to come I guess I`ll wait and hope that this car will offer the right power and a lightweight sportscar handling and feeling

But I hope they will change the engine mapping for better throttle response and a better sound...like changing the ignition times/intervals and all that
