BMW M3 GTS clocks not so fast Nurburgring time

The GTS is just too overpriced... I wish the manufacturers would go back to the way they did things in the '60s and '70s where they'd price performance options honestly. For example, the GTS should cost about $15K more, not $100K more. Ridiculous. Honestly, how many of you would rather have an M3 GTS over a 997.2 GT3 RS? Not me. For that much money, I could get PTS, custom interior, performance mods, etc. Kind of puts it into perspective.

I hope I'll never have so many smackaroos in my bank account that I buy into this faux exclusivity thing over actual value for money . . .

Jox, I did not remove your pic... I agree. This car is way overpriced - even if it's a limited run. My thought is the M3 GTS has incredible control through the corners. But, it doesn't have the straight line speed and lacks some low end torque coming out of corners. They should have put MS Sport Cup tire on it. It would be interesting to compare the standard E9X M3 and M3 GTS to see how much difference there is with the DCT shifts.
You got to hand it to these manufacturers who make a limited edition product and the enthusiast/fan buys it. Can't blame them for wanting to make some money. Lets hope it gets put to use for a lightweight limited edition M3 for the US.
In a recent interview Dr. Segler, head of BMW's M division, said it's not all about speed and Ring lap times. It's more about how the car drives and feels - making car and driver one. I also understand he's paid to tow the company line. The guys at M know how to whip up the special sauce. According to insiders the new M5 will be something to recon with.

the GTS is just stunning in person - period.
yet is kinda amusing that the M3 CSL reaches a max G-load of 1,4 Gs while the GTS is below that
The GTS did the Ring in 7:48 while the CSL did it in 7:50
but I`m sure the GTS did not hit its best time yet....but 7 years since the CSL should be enough to get a much faster car, even without stickier tires.
anyway...this car looks just badass
