TS Official: 2012 F10 BMW M5 Discussion and Spy Photos/Videos Thread

The M5 sounded great but completely different to my V10 M6...more of a rumble than a whine. Unfortunately the 6er was stopped. The BEST sounding car of my whole ten days there was the M3 GTS...you could hear the thing forever and it was magnificent!

2012 BMW F10 Shows Its Bumper and Engine. Most Revealing Pics Yet
Compared to the standard F10 5-series, the F10 M5 front bumper is clearly more sculpted and angular, and features the trapezoidal design as seen on the current M3. Huge side air inlets flank the center trapezoid grill. The wheels are still the BBS FI wheels we've previously seen, but which are purely for testing. The more recent wheel design we've seen were recently posted, and are closer to the X6M wheels in design.
Also seen for the first time in these photos is the M5's S63 motor (4.4L twin turbo, twin scroll, direct injection V8 from the X6M/X5M). The S63 is expected to be tweaked for the M5 to produce more power than the X6M/X5M. We believe it could come in at the 585-600hp mark. As it was a hot day at the Nurburgring, the M5's hood was opened for cool down and monitoring/testing.
The 2012 M5 is expected to premier at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA autoshow in September 2011.

Full F10 M5 Interior Spied
These pics include the best photos yet of the F10 M5 interior. The M5 test cars continue to be spied and have already been showing their production interior, wheels, side mirrors, trunk spoiler, among other features. It's hard to believe that the new M5 will not be premiered until the 2011 Frankfurt IAA in September 2011, but it's true.
We have yet to spot an F10 M5 interior showing a manual transmission shifter. Question remains, will a manual transmission be offered for the new M5 in any market.
