Not understanding BMW.

Apparently the normal 335i claims 0-60 in 4.9-5.0 seconds.

Why are they claiming the 335IS to have a 5.0 0-60? It has like 20 more HP and more torque. They also are saying that they have a torque boost feature which gives you 70 more TQ for around 7 seconds.

With all of this in mind and the FANTASTIC DCT transmission, how in god's name is it doing the same 0-60?

That is incorrect. The 335is does have the N54 (twin-turbo) engine, and is tweaked up over the current iteration. The new 2011 335i has the N55 twin-scroll single turbo motor.

Also, to OP, don't take BMW quoted 0-60 times to heart, they don't mean much.

BMW has a history of underreporting engine power figures and being conservative with its performance estimates. Independent tests typically reveal different numbers (ie 0-60/62 times and hp). The 335is numbers make sense if you compare them to the e92 335i numbers on BMW USA which states 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. BMW North America

Insideline reported 4.8 in their 2007 335i coupe full test: Full Test: 2007 BMW 335i Coupe

Same goes for the e90 335i. BMW USA states 5.4 6MT / 5.6 Steptronic. Insideline reportred to 60 in 5.3 in their 2009 test.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the e92 335is DCT get’s to sixty in around 4.5 seconds - which is pretty damn impressive!!

I love these pics! Kilometer Magazine: 2011 335is Coupe - BMW Builds One For the Enthusiasts

And it still has no LSD.

My 20 year old 325is HAS a real LSD.

I am really not digging the bean counters and the marketing droids running BMW. So what if the M cars have LSD? Maybe some people don't want to pony up the dough and still want a nice sporty car with a real LSD.

And then there's the brakes on the M cars. The E9x M3 competition package still doesn't come with Brembo's.

At least the F10 M5 looks like it will have nice big Brembo's.

I agree a 335is SHOULD have an LSD.

Most of 'zee Germanz' under estimate their Sixty times. Porsche being the worst offender of 'underestimating' their times.

Or at the very least a factory option.

Well I'm glad they're conservative.
Anyone else excited to see what these things do with a Vishnu or JB3 chip?

Must be insane with that DCT.
