Well, I wanted an E46 M3 since it came out in 2001. In November 2006, I felt I was at the right point in my life to buy one. At that point, the car was out of production, and only a handful were available on dealer lots in CA. That handful consisted of only verts- none in my desired exterior color, Alpine White. I should also add, my dream M3 was a minimally optioned 6 speed manual with no sunroof (wanted to track the shit out of it). I decided there was no other car on the market that excited me as much, so I bought the vert. I immediatelly bought the hardtop and started examining ways to pull the soft top and its motor mechanism (that would make up the 300lbs difference between the coupe and vert). Unfortunately, everyone said the process was irreversible and would ruin the weight distribution of the car.
After driving it for 2,000 miles, I picked up everything on the Vorsteiner catalog in double-sided carbon fiber. As I had to paint half the car anyways for all these parts, I decided to go all out and repaint the whole car in the color it was intended to be...
