Chris, I think a 100hp jump considering the move from the E39 to E60 is understandable especially when utilizing TT technology. The move from the NA V8 to the NA V10 would have been laughed at if BMW only offered an increase of 80bhp.

The 997 S coupe with 385hp goes like stink and it should thanks to its ~3200lb weight.

I agree with STOPPIE, the Panny Turbo is the best proof that you don't need a gazillion hp or rather that a millionbillion hp is no good if the car can't put the power down effectively. I'd much rather see BMW focus on shedding some of that kerb weight. As they seem to be doing with going for an all aluminum body (only 8 years after Jaguar ) with some CF bits thrown in for good measure. If you want a heavy, bloated car with a 700 bhp engine, get a Merc.

Survey sayssss: "Lighten her up!"

Seriously, what kills me is performance wise, most M5 owners let alone a lot of C2S owners have yet driven the car to it's abilities let alone THEIR ability. It's a joke really. who's dick is bigger.

Thus why so many peeps love Porsche. It's not about HP; its how it's used.

S63 does the 60 in under 4.5 seconds. How many drivers actually DRIVE like that? I bet less then 25%.

BMW; stop contributing to whoring out the brand, keep the HP about the same and put the M5 on a fark'n diet!

We are talking super sedans here. If I'm looking for a lightweight and efficient high hp vehicle, I wouldn't be looking for a sedan.

+1 for the most part. It wouldn't hurt to loose a few lbs though...
