Wouldn't surprise me if you run into more problems with that LeMans car than a clean, well maintained, reasonable mileage car. And, you save yourself at least 10 grand by going with the latter. If the uncertain maintenance costs don't bother you, it's a great car to pickup. I'd much rather be driving an E39 M5 than E46 M3 - no question.

A buddy has the same M's in his garage. His '02 E39 is Carbon Black with black extended leather and all options.
