Damn, it seems like my old LT1 had more room to work in there than that thing. Cool swap though, you definitely don't see this everyday. whats the curb weight of that thing? well before the swap anyways.

Can't remember the curb in reality. I know E36 M3s are 3170lbs stock. The LS1 is actually lighter than the S52 and it sits lower and further back. Ideal swap really.

I've seen LSx motors swapped into many cars, but this one is new to me... Kudos to your friend!

That's a pretty good idea. Definitely a unique approach to fixing the US E36 M3's biggest problem.

I just showed this to my friend and he said the same thing thinking V-8 vs I6. In the Miata it's almost the same weight even though its twice the cylinder count due to the Miata's iron block

Correct, the LSx motors are very light, which makes them great swap candidates... They weigh just slightly more than a rotary.

I always thought a TT 3.0L V-8 from the 530i would be a pretty unique idea.
