Cool 170' Palmer Johnson

I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely love this thing. I saw the 150 at the marina the other day, and I absolutely love these boats. This is the new 170 that is currently under construction, so these pictures are just renderings. I can't wait to see the real thing. What do you guys think about it?

The lines are just awesome. The pool is just total digg. Total waste of space, requires huge coonstructional support to carry the weight. Needs to be emptied before you leave and I do not know how long it will take to fill. It will be filled with sea water, so what is the point? YOU ARE ON A FUDGING BOAT.

Replace the pool with a large hot tub and sun pad, and more out door seating, perhaps a forward dinning table.

However looking at the layout, it seems to be just fine with the pool in regards to space. Also the main tender goes where the pool is, so I am sure it's a shallow pool and judging from other yachts I've been on it wont be a problem filling it up with fresh water. How did they address the issue on Alfa Nero? From my understanding it had a water tank in which the water was "stored" and filled the pool in minutes. Or was it that the floor of the pool raised up to turn into deck and heli pad?

Are you an engineer? I ask because you have lots of posts that would lead me to believe that you have a background in engineering. Just curious.

I like the Palmer line, if i had to get a new yacht there are two which I'd like

135 Palmer or 150 and a 44 Aquariva Riva.

No not an engineer. But been around boats all my life. Alfa Nero's pool is in the aft and not on top of what are state rooms, etc, but the engine room/tender storage. Leaving it say half full while uner way would not cause the pounding that the bow will take. Hot tubs is one thing, I believe the smallest one I know of is a 84 Viking/Princess that has one on the fly. But pools on boats this size are nothing more than larger jacuzzis, not really capable of lapping. If they are sweet water filled, the amount of water at 8lbs a gallon to carry around is pretty insane and if they are filled with sea water as thbey are on cruise ships than what really is the point?

I guess it would be useful for people that are afraid of sharks but still want to get in the water.

Honestly I don't know what use it would have. As just a hot tub with fresh water, it would be very useful.

I love the PJ boats. Have always thought they were superior in looks but have never been on one to be able to comment about fit and finish. Does anyone have any experience with them?
