1000 HP Trackday Special! Switzer ClubSport USE GTR

You’re looking at the newest, most track-focused Nissan GTR to roll out of the new, Oberlin, Ohio Switzer Cars factory yet. This is the first of many Switzer ClubSport GTRs. Before we get into what makes the new Switzer ClubSport GTR so special, though, let’s talk about some of the philosophy and history behind the Switzer boys’ latest track weapon.

Switzer’s R35 GTR Nissan tuning program began in 2008 with the first P700 test car. “The whole point of that initial GTR package was to enhance the characteristics that made the R35 a great track car,” explains Tym Switzer. “The goal was a linear power curve, minimal turbo lag, and predictable throttle response. We didn’t want drivers to be caught out mid-corner because they were getting mixed messages from the car.”

The Switzer P700 PKG was a huge hit with early clients who tracked the cars, and demands for more power led to the development of the P800 GTRs, the P800 Track Animals, and, eventually, the ethanol-fueled E900s.

Those cars met with great success at several trackday events, and provided the Switzer crew with the hundreds of hours of data logs and tuning lessons that enabled the company to deliver the world’s first “no excuses” production hypercar – the USE GTR.

With nearly 1000 hp on tap and a reputation for bulletproof reliability, the Switzer Performance Ultimate Street Edition GTR has established itself as the street-legal performance benchmark. Despite the USE’s towering street cred, though, one question gets asked again and again: what’s it like at the track?

“We can never escape that question,” said Tym, laughing at last week’s Switzer trackday meet-up at Mid-Ohio that served as the new ClubSport’s first public showing. “We don’t have it easy, either. Our clients expect more than a quarter-mile time when they talk about ‘the track’. We have to be able to meet and exceed their expectations on the road, at the drag strip, and at places like this.”

The ClubSport GTR combines the Switzer-built Ultimate Street Edition engine and turbocharger upgrades with Switzer’s big brake package, a track biased suspension system, lightweight, downforce-generating bodywork, and lightweight, composite racing seats. The ClubSport is further separated from the standard USE by it’s more track-oriented Toyo R888 tires and a more aggressive carbon-nano brake pad compound that’s specially formulated to reduce fade and improve bite.

The ClubSport components add $29,900 to the price of the “standard” Switzer Performance Ultimate Street Edition GTRs, and can be added to any Switzer GTR with a 3-4 week turnaround. Contact Switzer Performance or your are Switzer Cars dealer for more information.

This car is a beast, with bullet proof engine :-) really for the price for a GTR why even bother wanting anything else.

Forget the Supra, the GTR is a tuners halo.

Do you know if you are able to get the same amount of power with the Supra and GTR? All the Supra videos I've seen they sort of cap out at 1000hp. I know GTRs can definitely get past that number.

Well the 2JZ engine in the Supra has been used to put out some serious power. Though I'm pretty sure a GTR would wipe the floor against a supra with the same power in each.

The 2JZ engine can handle 1500hp+ with a built motor (often stroked to a 3.4l). But overall, the GT-R has the AWD and technology. In a straight line though, Supra would probably win with a good driver due to weight. Thas just a guess though based on GTR having AWD system.
