2014 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Build - Custom Dyno Tuning, AMS & Akrapovic -HG Motor
Untitled | Flickr - Photo Sharing! This 2014 Nissan GT-R Black Edition came to HG Motorsports for some bolt-on performance upgrades and custom tuning. The plan for this car was to first and foremost add some more power and sound while mainly focusing on reliability and drivability The following parts were added to the vehicle for the 1st phase of this car build:-AMS Front Mount Intercooler
-AMS Catless Downpipes
-AMS Resonated Midpipe
-Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust System w/Carbon Tips
-HKS Hybrid Filters
-Custom In-House Dyno Tune
A few words from our Master Tuner
2014 Nissan GTR – EcuTeK Dyno Tuning, Akrapovic Exhaust and a little more
While dyno tuning has not changed much over the years vehicles have and the 2014 Nissan GTR has seen some, while minor improvements, very nice power improvements. The baseline difference between a 2008-2010 and this 2014 Nissan GTR model on our dyno have shown as much as an 75 horsepower improvements from just purchasing the vehicle off the show room floor. Once again Nissan under-rating their vehicles.
While the base power started at just under 400 whp (393 whp to be exact on an AWD Dyno Dynamics Dyno) and just about 70 more than much earlier models the overall improvement in the power band is seen immediately on the show room floor model. With a wider power band than before and a flat torque curve it is no wonder the car is a beast right out of the gates. Of course our customers and HG Motorsports cannot stop there.
For our first 2014 and second one on its way, we proceeded with the standard high flow track down pipes to mate up with an Akrapovic exhaust system to give the beast a nice purr at idle and a subtle but aggressive note under throttle. Though you may think the “drone, the drone”, there is none and all this with a set of carbon exhaust tips for each side of vehicle, pure . We also added a set of front mount intercoolers and a couple intakes and went for some custom dyno tuning with the EcuTeK Nissan GTR Pro-Tuning software we able to pull just about 460 whp (458 whp to be exact on California 91 octane) and over 450 ft/lbs of torque between 2500-5000 RPM’s.
Yet the biggest improvement is the drivability, it has gone from pretty darn good to outright smooth and almost religious in nature. Without a single hesitation, a single hiccup, the perfect blend of throttle, control and an almost unreal linear power band, even the pure part throttle pedal feel in those tight and twisty corners is fighting for perfection. And the biggest surprise of all, a throttle response equal to that of a good old naturally aspirated American V8, this is a true drivers car, the 2014 Nissan GTR. You want the ultimate driving machine, sorry BMW eat your heart out, this it is. The 2014 Nissan GTR, with a few minor mods and a custom tune, this has become my personal favorite.
