Switzer E1K vs. Shift S3ctor Airstrip Attack

Boulder Nissan‘s P800 has shown up on these pages in the past, after winning the TX2K10 and hitting fantastic speeds at the Texas Mile event immediately afterwards. Since then, the car has “outgrown” its P800 markings, and has been turned into a 1000 hp, ethanol-fueled track-terror. We call it the E1K, for “ethanol” and “1000 hp”. Most people say something that sounds like “Holy duck!” when they first see it. To each their own, I guess?

Whatever you call it, there’s no denying that Boulder Nissan’s Switzer E1K is a monster of a car. In addition to the upgraded engine internals, fully-built transmission, MONSTER intercoolers, and Switzer turbos, the E1K features aggressive, lightweight bodywork, track-focused brake upgrades, and an adjustable suspension. Boulder’s E1K is also notable for what it doesn’t have: an interior! The E1K also doesn’t have the hundreds of pounds of mass an interior adds to the overall weight of Nissan’s R35 GTR.

The Boulder Nissan car is definitely on my list of “stories to tell” here at Switzer, but this isn’t that article. Instead, this article has less to do with the car, and more to do with a post I read on Shift S3ctor’s Facebook page a few hours ago.
While we wait for GoDaddy to fix their issues… we would like to announce that Boulder Nissan has sponsored our event and are bringing with them 2 Nissan GTR’s to compete both days at our Airstrip Attack. For those in the GTR community, we know how hard it can be to find new GTR’s in our local dealerships at a fair price, well Boulder Nissan has hooked up many new GTR owners with fair pricing, and excellent service. Please support our sponsors and like them on facebook. Want to run these 2 beasts?

That, dear readers, is going to be a seriously fun event!

For those of you not in the know, Shift S3ctor’s Airstrip Attack is a 1/2 mile, side-by-side drag race taking place this November in California. In addition to the Switzer E1K, you can expect Corvettes, Ford GTs, Porsches, Lamborghinis, and more to show up.

There will be so many high-horsepower cars showing up, in fact, that I hesitate to make the obligatory “We’re gonna win!” prediction I’m sure you’re all expecting. Besides, Boulder Nissan’s E1K isn’t a drag-racer. It’s a road-race car, set up to put down smooth, mid-corner power with a linear and predictable power band. It was never built for this sort of thing, and I have no doubt that, if the road got twisty, the E1K would slice through the competition like a Ginsu through a ripe tomato …

… but I’m not not predicting an E1K win, either!

Head on over to Shift S3ctor’s website to get the full rundown on this November’s Airstrip Attack, and “Like” their Facebook page to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and schedule changes. Contact Switzer Performance for more information about the R1K/E1K conversion.
