Acura to show new NSX Concept in Detroit

New NSX Concept will be revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show

American Honda has announced that it will unveil four all-new vehicles at the 2012 North American International Auto Show including a concept version of the next generation Acura NSX super car.

Also on display will be an all-new compact sports sedan, a redesigned RDX crossover sport utility vehicle, as well as a concept of the next US Accord Coupe model.

The NSX Concept represents the styling direction for the next generation of Acura's super sports car, while the Acura ILX Concept is a styling study of an all-new luxury compact sedan scheduled for launch in spring 2012. Positioned at the gateway to the Acura line up, the ILX will feature three powertrains including Acura's first-ever gas-electric hybrid. Acura also will unveil a prototype of the 2013 RDX, the second generation of Acura's five-passenger SUV.

AutoExpress notes:

"The new NSX is set to use a 400bhp V6 hybrid powertrain with the petrol engine mounted in the middle and a pair of electric motors at the front, along with a development of Honda's Super-Handling-All-Wheel-Drive-System (SH-AWD).

The look of the new car is expected to be influenced by a mysterious concept car which will appear in the new Avengers movie. The revival of the NSX will be met positively as the original has developed a cult following. It went on sale back in 1990 and was designed to beat the performance of the Ferrari 348 – its rival at the time – but also offer reliability and everydary useability. Its chassis was developed with the assistance of Ayrton Senna."

The Accord Coupe Concept on the Honda stand will show the design direction of the next US Accord styling.

All three Acura vehicles will be revealed at the Acura Press Conference on January 9, 14:45 (US Eastern Time). The press conference will be webcast live on Acura Media Newsroom - Headlines.

Honda press conference will be held on January 10, 9:50am (US Eastern Time). It will be broadcast live via webcast on http://hondanews.com/live/2012naias.

Hi,

Exciting. Worrying that Honda might charge Toyota LFA money for it though.

Cheers,
Nik

Nice! So, maybe that really is a version of the NSX in the new Ironman movie?

hmm, not a fan of any acura anymore. they have become souless since NSX died. their poor marketing has ruined the sporty and efficient cars they once made. i wonder what car or market is nsx concept trying to compete with.

Who ever is designing the new Acura line needs to be replaced. The new TL design was so horrid, I didn't even consider it when I was looking for a daily. I mean, the back looks like front and front looks like something a child designed.

And this NSX looks like some 70's porn car.

They better put some wider wheels on the nsx if the Iron Man spy pics are any clue. Give those wheels back to the Civic they borrowed them from and replace them with a set that can actually help with looks and traction.
