Lexus LFA clocks 7:22 at the 'ring

Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition clocks 7m22s

Nobody expected the new LFA to be slow, and this video of an unofficial time seems to hint at great things to come. This is a super smooth lap of the Nordschleife by one of the Gazoo drivers ahead of the 24-hour race that was being shown in the Team Gazoo lounge. It seems that Akira Iida left some time on the table and the fact that the video hasn't been shown all over the world by Lexus also suggest they're expecting better... but will it beat the 2011 Corvette ZR1?

^Read that this wasn't a record attempt, so we'll see a serious attempt later this year.

I didn't see that coming. That's really impressive.

im guessing they will release an official video when they get under 7:20, since that is what they promised.

first ill say that i really LOVE the LFA...the sound, look, and finish of the car are great!

but keep in mind this is not a standard LFA, it is the 'Ring edition car:

The US$465,000 Lexus LFA Nurburgring – the most expensive Japanese car ever - Image 27 of 49

"Now the racetrack-focused “LFA Nürburgring Package” is set to be revealed. Only 50 such 562 bhp vehicles will be produced with revised aerodynamics and technical refinements designed to fine-tune the exotic two-seat sports coupe to be capable of lapping the fabled Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit under 7:20."

it makes the corvette '12 ZO6 (which pulls a 7:22), with much less advanced technology, and less power, INCREDIBLY impressive.

I don´t give to much credit about this promotional times done by the companies. Sport auto test´s in another hand i believe more, because is what a independent driver get in a spec street car. This times...bahh to muck marking, and i believe the Z06 is a truly good car, but until i see 7.22 seg in a independent review i don´t believe it. Good car? yes, great car for the money? yes, 7.22 seg car...no. in a spec street car..no way, but i take it back if a see some independent time close to this one.
