Funny, someone posted this video here back when it happened.... Can't believe it later became an insurance fraud case.

The sad thing is, since it's on public road, even though they were techincally "racing," the insurance probably would have covered it.

I am really not sure what was going through those kids' minds.

As I recall the video was posted as soon as it happened, so the owner of the GTR probably freaked out... but the video went viral and spread like a fire as soon as it was up. After that he probably realized he was good and f*cked.

I remember when this was originally posted months ago.

When I saw it on the news as insurance fraud I was surprised.

I am positive the insurance would have paid. They take that risk when they insure a young person in a 550 hp car.

If it had been on the track - that's another story. But as was pointed out, it was a public road.

Im sure the biggest issue on their minds was having their parents find out about the race...since they probably paid for the car.

^ I'm thinking the fraud accusation stems from the story being inconsistent or changing?

The charges came from the fact that these idiots told the insurance that they were going to repair the car themselves, left the damaged cars in the bodyshop for three months, then open a fradulent claim to try to have the insurnace company pay for the damage incurred three months ago that these kids supposedly were going to fix out of pocket without involving the insurance company.

They should have filed a claim originally and be done with it. Insurance would have paid.
