Mitsubishi has put production of the Lancer Evolution X on hold, saying there's enough inventory to make it through the end of the year when the 2010 model is released. Mitsubishi spokesperson Christine Jew told KickingTires that no changes were planned for the 2009 model, but the 2010 variant would benefit from a few minor revisions. Inventory tracking through Cars.com confirms that there are plenty of Evos available (887 2008 models, to be specific), but that doesn't mean the new Evo X is a flop; sales of Mitsu's rally rocket were up over 50% in 2008.

 

I like the Evo IX better

 

JonA85, I was thinking the same when the EVOX came out. But it is looking every bit as good if not better than the earlier Evolution cars. Since many tuners have started getting their hands dirty in bringing up endless aftermarket products. Let's wait and see what the potential of this car is.

 

Probably a good time to buy one if there's lots of dealer inventory. I've been pondering one for a while; think it looks much better than the previous versions.

 

I like it, it's reminiscent of the 6.5 Makinen edition

 

I drove a demo and I loved it even though I'm not usually a fan of these cars!

 

It's a very cool car and it responds as well or better to mods than the previous gens did. I only wish they'd make one with a six-speed manual...

 

They do, we get a choice of six-speed or the new gearbox.

 

I don't believe a 6-speed manual is available anywhere. Even in the UK, they only get 5-speed manuals or the 6-speed DCT.

 

I have to say, at first I didn't like the styling, but seeing it in person has changed that. I also got to drive an MR and thought it was a great car. It was probably my second choice behind the M3.
