I use Clif Bars because they are rated fairly high in terms of protein ratio. They are also tasty and available at Costco. However, I wish Costco carried the better flavors (macadamia; blueberry).

Coincidentally, I have both of those sitting on my desk right now. I also have Carrot Cake, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, Black Cherry Almond, and Peanut Toffee Buzz (new...with caffeine!).

How much do they cost at Costco? They're a buck each from Trader Joes.

Bumpity bump!

Started my day bright and early with my 68 miler. Combined with around 9Km of swimming Mon-Wed, I'd say this has been a good week.

Black Cherry Almond Clif bar carried me through again!

Any barefoot/minimalist runners here? I picked up a pair of Vibram FiveFingers Bikilas the other day. I've always run in traditional shoes so this will be a first for me. They only weigh 6oz each.

I have a pair of KSO's and merrell trail gloves. The trail gloves are by far easier to get on/off, I've been running in them the last two weeks here on concrete. I normally do all trail running back home. The downside is the designers were retarded enough to put stitching inside over the foot (up from the big toe) and they rub/blister there meaning you MUST wear socks if you use them. Other than that running in either is awesome, no more knee/back problems for me.

Friend of mine had the KSO's. He said his calves hurt like hell after he finished running in them. You change your form a lot (or should I say, correct your form) in order to run in them comfortably...at least I think.

But I'm not a runner. Never have been, don't think I ever will be. Short stubby legs don't help that at all.

I clocked in around 4 hours today. I was slow...I averaged decently on the flats, but my climbs are horrible. 2100 feet of climbing wrecks me. And even that is mediocre.

You have to ease into barefoot running, especially on concrete. Your calves and feet are not conditioned for it if you've been running in padded shoes with elevated heels. Its recommended to do 10-15 minutes to start and build up over weeks/a month to your regular volume.

I'm not really a runner either, but I do it for conditioning and challenge from time to time.
