2014 GT3 vs 2011 GT3RS 3.8 or 4.0

Not that I am thinking about abandoning my '04 GT3 with 11,000 miles.
What's the scoop for a Porsche guy out of the loop ? TIA

4.0 if you can afford it and find one available.

4.0 are selling for double what they cost new. It is not a good time to get one. I would go with a 2011 3.8RS and mod it to what you want, they are selling for a premium also but not as absurd.

Mods I would do are a RSS cross pipe and the RSS stage 2 suspension set up.

Yes the 4.0 is stupid money. Seems like the 2014 GT3 can do the Ring 2 seconds quicker. It must be that semi auto/auto tranny with possible better mechanical grip. Thanks for the input.

Yes, but it's not only performance. Some are putting the 4.0 with the '73 RS in terms of collectibility.

Have there been any motor issues with the 4.0 compared to the 2011 3.8 ?

No motor problem on the 4.0, both the 3.8 and 4.0 had the potential for a nut to get injested from a faulty batch of inlet manifolds, all replaced long ago.

So why is Porsche on its 5th generation oil pump design for the 4.0?
