Jay Leno drives the 918 Spyder

Last week in Monterey, Frank Walliser, head of the Porsche 918 Spyder program, takes funnyman Jay Leno through the new super sports hybrid that Porsche says will act as the "gene pool" for its sports cars of the future.

As a refresher, the 918 project is Porsche's first foray into the hybrid-hypercar arena. The spyder features a gas-powered 4.6-litre V8, that makes 600bhp at 8600rpm, with 390lb ft of tourque at 6600rpm, and a 9150rpm redline. The 918 also features a hybrid module which is powered by a 154bhp electric motor brought to life via lithium-ion batteries. Combined the two powerplants churn out a whopping 875bhp.

I like Jay, but sometimes it seems that he is PR of company that gave him car, not car enthusiast who can notice good and potentially bad elements on car.

There are plenty of people that will do that. A brief introduction to a car without wasting time attempting to be critical. I think it fits his style and role.
