yes...and then it still has to be built..or to be confirmed. Which I doubt..what engine? which chassis..? Either Porsche does everthing new for this one - which they will not ..or what they could do - take the 918 chassis, take the RS sypder and ready is a new supercar..which many would be willing to buy. But it will go against the 918 spirit..and offering a bargain 918 ..will not please the owners either. Therefore I highly doubt that it will be built..the development cycles in the automotive industry are still long...so we are almost 2013..therefore its impossible to have it on the roads in 2015...and if this thing doesnt lower "fleet emissions" either - than its dead anyway...only on TS we are making it alive...

totally agree jumping horse, the only glimmer of light for the 960 is in gt racing at top level, as we all know the rsr is finding it tough against the 458 etc and that car would tick the box, porshe reliability keeping the rsr in the game, there was talk of the 960 sharing the chasis with the r8 and gallardo replacements to keep the cost down ,but porsche not wanting to share the parts, as you say there will be some depressed 918 customers around ''if'' or when a cgt similar appears for a lot less cash, they will more than likely use the 918 as there le man(lmp1 car) and keep the gt programme as is, gt3 carrera cup and the gt3/rs gt2 programme, why invest tons of new money into a brand new model when the 991 will earn loads around the world anyway, porshe wont want to loose the 911 identity!

Hi goldencrust,

Thats exactly the point..besides I see two othe problems of a 960 - or whatever its called:

1)you mentioend the competetion on the racetrack: the 960 would have to be designed in such a way that it would be in conformity with the FIA rules..and these requirements maybe different then "customer wishes - or marketing wishes". Whether a 991 RSR would be able to beat all the competitors in the first race...I doubt it.

2) Performance - will the 960 be so much faster then the best 991?...or - it might even get too close to the 918.,.for less than half price? Porsche did a lap with the 918 of 7:14...very good - but compared to the GT2RS of 7:18 - one could say "so what"...and we dont really know what kind of tires were on the 918..yes they said street tires..but still. The difference of 4 seconds could already be due to the tires...or other factors...there are so many things they can trick with..

The best 991 will be very close to the GT2RS..or on par..or a bit faster..and where should the 960 fit in then?..Nowhere I would say..

all the best,

The 918 can never be a LMP1 car. The LMP1 project will be a real racing car, not an adaptation from a road going car.

1 million $ is steep, but I don't doubt they're gonna sell them all.

I'm a bit disappointed, that the racing livery is just a wrap. For a million bucks I'd expect a proper paintjob.

I've never been on board like others have with the 918. And with these crazy prices and body wraps, it'll never hold its value
