2013 Porsche 911 GT3 Slotted For Geneva Motor Show Reveal
The hard core 911 sheds a few pounds and gets a power boost

According to the British publication Autocar, the GT3 version of the 991 is set to be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva motor show next March, order books will open shortly after that.

August Achleitner, the 911 project chief, confirmed that Porsche's motorsport division is currently testing both manual and PDK versions of the new GT3, which we can verify from the past few rounds of spy photos. Power is expected to be around 450 horsepower, which should translate to a 0-62 mph time of less than 4.0 seconds, and a top speed tapping out near 200mph.

The new 991 GT3 will feature aero bits unique to it, including an all-new rear wing design, and massive multi-spoke center-lock wheels. An RS version of the GT3 should appear roughly 12-24 months later. We'd look for at least 485 hp out of the box from the RS variant.

Stay tuned for more info as always.

I seriously never liked 911 (design that is but do appreciate the engineering behind) but the new 991 is making me look otherwise. the shape and flow from front to back is just smooth and nice. interior is impeccable.

I always respected Porsches but never really liked them. This design is starting to win me over.

Hmmm... Tough choice. Not sure I like the 991 version of the GT series but PDK AND lighter is impressive!

Did I see that one right,...the new GT3 will have PDK instead of a manual? Looks like Porsche is finally joining the ranks of Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc in forsaking the manual. I'm both happy and sad at the same time.

I agree. Looking at this I'm guessing the GT2 will follow the same PDK route too?
