What dealers want deposits? I've never had to do that. Must be a local dealer thing?

in the uk dealers ask for letters of intent, but wont take a deposit until the car is officially launched, then a £10,000 deposit is placed, seems to be some internal stuff going on that some custoners never get to see a car due to the fact the regular guys always get them! and now vw are saying spread them around!! down to porsche to get there allocation allowance, for the new guys and still keep the long term players happy to!!
