Any unique 997 GT2s available?

Hi Vernor,
Thank you so much for this interesting review..interesting...I didnt expect the 4.0 to be so much "more" raw then a Gt2. For example, I know 3.8 GT3, 3.6 GT3 and GT2..the 3.6 was probaly the more raw car of the three..
Wishing you good luck for your C-GT.-..and yes, we are waiting for that report too..but I suspect that your report will say that the C-GT is not comparbale to any 997 GT. One GT2 owner who also owns a C-GT told me this..

Jon - Yes, the MP4-12C has been sold. Amazing car but I could never fully "connect" with it. And I'll work on the pics. Need to find another setting near my home, getting tired of looking at my driveway.
zzzspeed - Yes, both cars are stock (mostly). The 4.0 has the RSS cross pipe and the GT2 has FI wheels. Tuning the GT2 is certainly on the agenda. I was simply trying to compare stock for stock.
The GT2 lag is very minor, but if you drive a 4.0 you'll understand better what I lack the ability to put into words. Some of that may be contributed to differences in the throttle mapping, I need to datalog the two cars more to find out.
I also have not aligned either car, which could have a significant impact on my driving impression. So please understand my feedback cannot be considered definitive.
In stock form, I would certainly say the RS4.0 is more raw. More so even than the 3.6 RS I use to own. For example, start up the 4.0 and the gearbox sounds like it's crushing gravel and the engine settles down into a lump-lump-lump idle which at times can send a noticeable shake through the chassis. The GT2 has never done that. You also get more mechanical noise transmitted into the cabin with the 4.0.
Again, both cars are amazing in their own right. I'm certainly not trying to pick a winner of the two. If any GT2 owner wants a ride in a 4.0, or visa versa, and can make it to Austin then you're welcome to get in touch.

Yes, the C-GT is a different beast, much harder (already because the chassis is from carbon fiber), much more intense to drive..more fun overall because engine is going to 10,000rpm..
However, he told me, C-GT more dangerous, well setup GT2 can keep up with C-GT...if not get slighly ahead. However, C-GT tires are the main weakness of the car apparently..

Thanks again for the information..four more things:
1) Im surprised (positively) that the 4.0 is more raw than 997.1 GT3 RS
2) That the 4.0 is more responsive..I expected that..after all its not turbo charged
3) The only thing I dont like about the GT2 is a) sound (OK - cannot be changed) b) engine mounts are for me too soft..the engine is wiggling to much in the chassis..I suppose ZZZspeed can tell me what to do..I planned to lower the car a bit, change the sway bar to hard position..I hope this will help already a bit. But in my 3.6 tis felt a bit better..my 3.8 is also a bit better..but maybe its just a feeling. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between engine mounts:
997 GT3 3.6/RS, 4.0, 3,8, 3.8RS and GT2RS.? I know sonme of these models have the dynamic mounts..but are the harder..or softer?
4) Mclaren: wow - you sold it...hey, I wanted to get a test drive in it soon..as a GT2 "lover"...what can I expect from it..what will disappoint me?
I´d love to come over to see your 4.0 in Austin..but Im in Europe..far away...dont hesitate if youre coming to the legendary track of Spa Francorchamps..Im sometimes there.
Thanks again for your words here..really appreciated.
PS: Dont sell the 4.0 and the GT2 anymore..

I don't know much about engine mounts and have not noticed them to be a problem for me. I did not change the sway bar.
I have driven the MP and it feels much smaller and even easier to track then the GT2, that is saying a lot. Most other cars feel much bigger then the GT2. My car feels quite a bit faster on the straights though. The MP is also kind of sketchy as it drives so damn smooth it misleads you to think you are not going that fast and then you struggle in the turns.
Overall it is really a great car. Would not sell my car for it though. Only for a CGT would I do that, well I think I would.

Hi ZZZspeed,
Thanks for the info on the engine mounts..hmm..I´ll think about it. Regarding the MP 4-12 ..interesting..I thought the strenght of the Mclaren would the corners.. (?)
Oh yes, agree on the C-GT..would give mine only away for 1) GT2RS 2)C-GT..any other option is not there for me.

Allow me to clarify. The MP is one of the best in the corners by far, what I meant was that you could easily mis-judge your speed and enter the corner 10mph faster then the car (or any car) can handle. Thus their is some sketchy sliding and loss of control in the corners. I only did this once and the instructor said we all make that mistake with this car because it misleads you to think you're not going that fast.
