VIDEO: Are you the production model 918 Spyder?

Clay model of the production-ready Porsche 918 Spyder leaked on video

A video posted on youtube today gives us a glimpse at what might be the production version of the Porsche 918 Spyder. Our mates at Gtspirit seem to think that it was shot in New York during a customer preview, as it clearly shows a different Porsche 918 Spyder than the prototype that has visited motor shows. This one features side marker lights which would show it’s North American market compliance.

Over the past month we have shown the continued development of the Porsche 918 Spyder as it moves into a new phase that will has seen high speed testing at the famed Nurburgring in Germany. The development mules have been adroned by fantastic historical liveries which has muster up continued excitement for the new super car from Porsche. Engineers believe that the Porsche 918 Spyder will put in a lap time of less than seven minutes and 22 seconds around the ring and we can't wait to see this occur.

Stay tuned for more as always!

I think no, but there will be only some minor changes. Look at these pics:

Side mirrors will be a bit different, and that little intake on the side isn't necessary. The final car will have a little opening behind the front wheels, different front grilles, different diffuser and different engine cover.

Pretty sure this is just purely a design mock up of the production car, but definetly not a fully functioning, final, production approved car. Somebody that attended the event on Rennteam said that this event happened last fall (2011), long before any of the prototypes started popping up on public roads.

So I think the design on this version is very close to what the final car will look like, but it is not in any way the final car. Here are some more pictures of it.

Also the car is still about a year away from official release, so I think there is still a lot of work to be done.

it's still a mock up clay model but very close to the production car. notice the more ''realistic'' side mirror size to meet the EU regulation. the passenger side shows our lame DOT regulation on the side marker & rear bumper reflector. seems like there's an additional cooling duct in front of the rear tires too. i guess it's not too far away..

Speedoholic is an unknown quantity at this point
The video was first discovered by Biser3a.com, a Lebanese automotive and motorsport website, and I happen to be the person who actually wrote the article alongside posting the video.

The video was shot in New York, 9 month ago, if you would like the name of the person who leaked it, contact me or just visit our website and discover it for yourselves.

Cheers mates.
