I think Porsche has said it will be a all new motor. A big deal was made when the 4.0 came out that it was the final car to use that block.

The new 991 GT3 engine will be based on the 9A1 997.2. and 991 engine.

Do your think Porssche will develop a completely new engine for a volume of max 1500 cars per year..?

Everything was already said..dont know what there is now to discuss..lets wait until we get the result..

Yes. Porsche has been in secret designs with RUF and plans on having a uber light V8. I'm posilutely sure.

It's gonna have to be something special.

The new Carrera S Powerkit takes it to 430hp from a n/a 3.8. That's only 5hp down on the 997.2 GT3 3.8...

If Porsche really decides to put a V8 in there, then surely a smaller/weaker version of the flat crank v8 from the future 918. Everything else would be just economically stupid.
But I personally don't think the GT3 gets a V8 instead of the typical boxer 6.

Nope, with the soon to be completed merger with VW. I have a special insider buddy who tells me the new Turbo will be released in Geneva. Apparently they are doing the 991 with the Bugatti V16 quad turbo. Couldn't believe it!
