I taught myself on an old toyota pick up out in socal and borrowed friends cars as often as I could. Didn't take too long to get fluid shifts. A 4.0 I assume is a little different so practice up on whatever else you can get your hands on that is less powerful and cheaper to start, then get into the 4.0.

Rent a Honda Civic with a 5 spd either from a Rent - A - Car or from a friend who owns one. Spend a weekend with it. It would be better if you got it from your friend. He could be your instructor. Spend the weekend driving the back roads around town(I'm hoping that isn't NYC). Hopefully, You will be proficient enough in a weekend to not destroy the RS 4.0's clutch!!

Go to any rent a car center- and rent something fast. Then search you tube - and practice what you see. You'll have it in no time. Good luck.

I've been over a year now driving a manual (my parents Citroen Xsara more precisely). I do like manuals. I guess that a 4,0's manual is just another world...
