For comparison here is my 3.8 litre fully built RS Tuning engine with no cats and Cargraphic race mufflers.
The engine is slightly higher compression @ 8.4:1 with EVO styl;e mechanical cams, twin plug etc.
With single mass flywheel it is very revvy

Got to love the sound of a 993 engine early in the morning
Holy ....
That thing sounds mean!!!!

I bought my 997GT2 just as I had all the bodywork totally overhauled including non sunroof roof with shaved "959" gutters and internal (hidden) roll cage - the car was never really driven following this so is totally mint in all respects....
Engine has 577PS @ 6500rpm and 796NM @ 4000rpm, it has 550PS from 5000rpm, it is a lovely engine with the chassis running on the Weissach sport kit, a £7600 factory kit which used RS and GT2 parts coupled with the more modern PSS9s
It is possibly the fastest 993 to 300 whilst wearing the draggy GT2 bodywork, the video below is a Bruntingthorpe which is about 2 seconds slower to 300 than other venues due to uphill slope and rough surface.

These 993 GT2/turbo engines were so expensive to build with serious horsepower/torque, the water cooled Mezgers are far more thermally efficient in comparison.
The air cooled turbo Mezgers had their 500+hp engines houred for racing with full strip down rebuilds at 20 hours to include new liners, pistons and often heads as the high temperatures would oval the liners and warp the heads, very expensive business.
RS Tuning built (and still do) the highest development of these engines by being able to fully program the Motronic boost control systems which is so important since it is only by being able to control the boost that the engine temperatures can be kept low enough for decent survival.
My engine runs at 1.4 bar at peak torque and only 1 bar at maximum power and runs through a Secan intercooler keeping temperatures down.
If you see a 993 turbo/GT2 engine running more than 1.2 bar at peak power it is heading very quickly for a big rebuild....
