Porsche 911 GT1

Regulations for the GT1 category stipulated that to be eligible, a total of 25 cars must be built for road use. Porsche developed a fully road-legal version, dubbed "911 GT1 Straßenversion", and delivered one in early 1996 to the German government for compliance testing, which it passed. The engine had to be slightly de-tuned to meet European emissions laws, although its 544 PS (400 kW; 537 hp) and dry weight of 1,150 kg (2,535 lb) proved to be more than adequate; the vehicle could accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 3.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 308 km/h (191 mph)[3].

if I'm not mistaking, there's only one streetversion of the 911 GT1, the 911 GT1 Straßenversion. Neither are there a 996 GT1 or a 993 GT1. The 1996 GT1 had the 993-looks. The revised 1997 GT1 EVO and 1998 GT1 had the 996 headlights. But none of these were roadlegal.

I think you're the most correct. I just did a bunch of research, and it appears in 1996, Porsche built 3 "993 style" road going GT1s, two of which Porsche kept at the factory, and one of which is currently in a NJ garage (These were based on the "1996 911 GT1"). Then in 1997, the revised "996 Style" came out of which about 21 road going cars were built (these were based on the "1997 911 GT1 Evo"). Finally in 1998, one sole road going GT1 was built based on the car that had a 1-2 victory at Le Mans that year (the "1998 911 GT1"). They would have built more, but regulations were changed, and it wasn't necessary to homologate 25.
Thanks for the ideas/info you write on the GT1...I have seen once in my life a GT1 - it was about 10 years ago in Switzerland - it was a white one - but it was loaded on a truck.
By the way, Im wondering what this mighty machine will put down for a time on the Nürburgring..I think GT2RS and C-GT will be dusted....with such a low weight - and being so much a "race car"...not many things will be able to keep up..
