GT2 Market Prices

What is the consensus on current GT2 prices? I have seen several sitting around dealerships for 50K over MSRP. I also noticed a couple of recent auctions on Ebay where the auction closed without reaching the reserve with the bids topping out at 235k and 238k. Is the over market price softening on the GT2 since the first ones hit the dealers? Will it continue to demand the premium that the RS did? I ask because I have an opportunity to purchase brand new at 40K over but I am having second thoughts.

Thanks, BTW, great forum.

My fearless prediction is that the GT2 will enjoy the very briefest of time above list. In fact, they seem to stalled now at much above list.

The GT3 and RS add special-ness to the 997, while the GT2 looks similar (although more different and much nicer than the 996) and is a de-contented 997tt. I think that's the reason they fall so hard and fast.

If I could get one at list, I would, but I wouldn't want to keep it too long or put many miles on it. At $40k over? Not a chance.

Is it just me or did the RS hold out at a higher price above MSRP longer the the GT2. I have an RS but from what I have heard about the GT2 some people seem to like the RS better. They say its more of a "raw" race car than the GT2. It could also be that the US and world economy is different today than it was last year.

Gentlemen, thanks for the insight. Maybe the GT2 is what the 997 Turbo S should have been and the GT2 should be more RS'ish. Maybe the RS does have a little more "specialness" or rawness about it. My second thoughts are getting stronger....

The tihing about the GT2 is it seems like a suped-up TT...I thought that until I got behind the wheel one delivery day. Totally different car...very different. I could care less about depreciation, this car need to be driven!

FWIW, I checked out a gorgeous black/black spankin' new GT2 at my local dealership. When I asked what the markup was, I was told, "None - Roger Penske doesn't let us mark them up."

Dealership is HBL in Tyson's Corner, VA. Ask for Robert Schefer and tell him Chris sent you...

When I asked what the sticker was, it was just north of $200K. They wouldn't take my RS4 straight across.

No chance HBL is selling a gt2 for sticker. If so, I'll be there in 15 minutes.

Man, GT2 is definitely an incredible car but I can see why the GT3 RS has more appeal, for being more raw, I agree!

997 GT2 is nice, saw one in person yesterday but it made me love my RUF GT2 100x more!

It must be pre-sold. Van & Alex have already inquired at HBL about any incoming 2's. Is it in the showroom? They don't list it on their site.
