F50 arrived today !
#77
yup, you boys have great memories ! Its a local car, and I have had my eye on it for the last 5 years. The owner is a friend, and he finally decided to sell it. I had jokingly asked for first right of refusal when I set eyes on the car 5 years ago....Some old 6 speeders may remember the story.
I was at a party with my wife with her colleagues from work. One of her friends was married to a guy with some cars, so they introduced us. Well, very nice guy, and we get on the subject of cars. He told me he had a few ferraris so I asked what do you have. He mentioned a TR, 328, 355...and said he had an F50 outside....WHAT !!!??? outside ???? I went to the window mid conversation and sure enough, parked outside is this F50.
10 minutes after meeting him, I was driving his F50 ! Just the nicest guy, and we struck up a friendship. The pics above are from a day at the Keeneland Concours when we drove together. Obviously, since then, he decided to sell it and luckily for me, he remembered our first right of refusal from the first time we met and we honored it !
I am thrilled to acquire it....he was and is too much of a friend to ever hound in order to land it, but finally decided he wanted to move onto some other things and I just happened to be in the right place. I mean, whats the probability of 1 in 50 US F50's being in your backyard ?
Just got lucky....
