Porsche 918 RSR KERS
Jay Leno walks us through Porsche's amazing KERS system debuted on the 918 RSR.
The centerpiece for the new Porsche 918 RSR Hybrid Racecar is the Flywheel KERS system that we first saw in the 911 GT3 R Hybrid that raced at the Nurburgring 24 Hour Race, Petit Le Mans and at the Shanghai Circuit for the end of the year GT races. The flywheel hybrid systems comes from the Williams F1 team who developed it when KERS was first introduced to F1 for the 2009 season, then pulled mid-season when a number of teams without big budgets started complaining to loud. KERS will be returning to Formula 1 in 2013 with the new engine rules package.
