Best Oil for a 4.0 RS

Just about to do a precautionary oil change on the RS and wondered what the consensus was on the best option. I have been told by Porsche that they use Mobil 1 0W40, my usual independent used Castrol 10W60. We normally run the cars in temperatures from 5 – 30 Centigrade. I wondered if the 10W60 could cost power, if the 0W oils provide better start up protection as they are thinner etc….

0w-40 is what I use for DD, 5w-50 is what I use for non turbo trackday cars, 10w-60 I would use for high powered turbo engines since they produce more heat.

Edit: Mobil 1 has 0w-50, looks like the best option to me for a 4.0 RS. thin enough for smooth starts and good protection under high loads and temperatures

out of curiosity, why use something different than what Porsche recommends?

I think the 0W40 is a generally recommended oil for all 911's, I just wanted to know if going 5W or 10W may help reduce RMS leaks, if 50 or 60 offers better high temperature protection and if so does it cost power due to it's viscosity? I am leaning toward Motul 5w 50 just wondered if any experts can help me decide.

O Christ. This will never end.
Btw what RMS leaks? Show me one on an 08 or later. I work at a dealer and have seen 0 after 05

I don't think it would help anything, because when on temperature oil will be way thinner than when cold. So if it leaks when cold, it would leak even more when on temperature.

50 or 60 is only needed when your car's oil gets hotter than the usual 85-90 degrees celcius, 50 or 60 will keep enough viscosity even if it gets a bit hotter than usually, which it will be when you track a high hp car on track.

It's not the question weather you win or lose HP with the 50/60, but how are you planning on driving it? trackdays etc.
