I love the new Macca, but if those are the choices (and they are), no question about it, CGT ALL THE WAY. In fact, there's precious few cars I'd choose over the Porsche, maybe the original Macca F1 if I could afford it and find one for sale.....

Carrera GT. All day every day. When I see someone driving one I feel like I know the kind of person they are. It takes a certain type of person to consider one and a special one to own one. The CGT has earned its place in the super car ranks very quickly. The Mc MP still has to prove itself. Why not wait for its inevitable deprecation and then make the move.

It all depends on what you want out of a car.

I think imho that the CGT is a Beautiful car from every angle. Even underneath on a rack.
A CGT will make you aware of it's ownership of you every second you drive it.

I think the Mclaren is a great looking car as well.
A Mclaren from all reports will not be as much of an input car but will be extremely fast.

After all the reviews of the Mclaren I think I'd hammer that car from day one on a track or every where without fear.

My CGT still scares the fvck out of me although it does everything you ask it to do all of the time. The most responsive vehicle I've ever been remotely close to. I've never driven the car past 6/10's and I don't think I ever need to.

Would I daily drive a CGT? No simple answer. It's not that car. Do I think you can daily drive the new Mclaren? Yep in a heartbeat.

Ask yourself what you want and then put yourself in the right car.

It depends what you want from the car OP . They are very different .
Although both have carbon tubs and seem similar on the surface ( mid engine , rwd , carbon construction etc ) they are completely different .

The Macca is the poster boy of the new generation , faster , more comfortable , safer and much easier to drive . One minute soft like a limo the next ( at the turn of 2 knobs ) a track ready car . With pre select gears and twin turbos its a formidable thing . Even the way they make power is completely different , the Macca punching you with torque low down and the CGT having to scream like a thing possessed .
The Macca will be easier around town and have more creature comforts and electronics as well as being cheaper to maintain in the long run .

The Carrera GT on the other hand is an old school supercar ( in the sense that it does not have safety systems that can almost defy physics on your behalf ) . A beast , demanding high skills and a cool mind . It feels no pity or remorse and reminds you every single time you drive it that if you dont respect it , it will hurt you . It is a weapon , they both are but the CGT is a Katana to the Maccas lazer pistol .
It is noisy and uncomfortable with a terrible ( in comparison to the Macca ) stereo and creature comforts / electronics .

BUT and this is a big but , when the demons caged in that mighty v10 roar in their fury and you gel perfectly with it through a series of fast corners , feeling everything , becoming one , a mix of man and machine , perfect heel and toe shift followed by incredible cornering power . Only you in control , the Carrera GT communicating every single bit of information you need perfectly through seat and wheel , the road moving almost too fast for your poor brain to process the information, I promise you the exultation , involvement and sense of achievement you will feel is impossible to put into words . None of the new breed of supercars comes close ( in experience ) to riding that raging Kraken .

If you put in the time to tame the dragon , you will never look at another car the same again . It is the pinnacle of the cars that YOU actually have to drive. I fear in these nannying , litigious times we live in , we will never see its kind again . It is the end of days but what a way to go .

In short , Cerrera GT for me no question .

CGT only if you able to drive it well. If not MP4 will be much easier to live with.

um, I voted McLaren, but I kind of rescind my vote.

Although I haven't driven a CGT, it's reputation intrigues me. I am much more interested in a car that requires the driver to work hard, as opposed to letting computers and technology to do it all for them.

I've never had the chance to really wring out a supercar, but, if I was in that position, I'd sure as hell be going after the one that requires my full attention and skill.

So, I rescind my MP4 vote, and throw it in the CGT category.

Agreed. If it was me- I would say... CGT or wait for a new version of the 458 to be released, i.e- spyder in order to decide from there.
