GT3RS 4.0 Limited Edition - Official Information Thread! Sept 18th, 2010 I heard about a new 11' GT3RS Limited Edition this week. They are making 500 cars. It will have a 4.0L engine and ... 500 bhp! They also would announce a car of this magnitude at some type of "event". There are no events on April 7th. My source said the announce will be in May, but no specific day given. Porsche feels that they announced so many cars in the last few months that they want the dust to settle. This will be the last 997 announced and then the 998 will start to get revealed. LE's will be delivered to US in August and Sept. That would be a major disappointment. We've already waited a long time. 2) 4.0L yes. 485 HP, not 500. NO PDK. 3) CF Hood and Fenders from GT2RS - No Surprise 4) Only slightly lighter than the GT3RS 5) New graphics and paint schemes - no surprise 6) Aero will be enhanced, but don't expect RSR style aero 7) Two tone interior options ala GT2RS. 8) Some suspension tweaks 9) $185k MSRP. That would simultaneously be awesome and sickening. Any GT model coming out is a cause for celebration, but I don't want the RS to go the Gallardo route, with a new "special" edition coming out every 43 seconds. Would be an incredible performer, I assume, if the rumors are true. |
Porsche is making too many special edition models. It's almost like they don't want anyone to be left out. Like DJ said, it's their model line is going to start to look like Jox's list. :lol: |

That would SUCK!! The whole reason that I ordered the RS was due to the fact that it was a limited edition. I hope that this is seriously only a rumour! |
I'm waiting for the GT3RS SLE version(special limited edition) that will have 555 hp. |
I believe such a power hike should be reserved for the new 991 RS ! |

I do not know whether this rumor is true but these limited editions sure are profitable for Porsche and owners seem to love them. From a business standpoint, keep them coming, although I am decades away from getting one myself. |

If this were for some reason remotely true it would be MUCH CHEAPER to do a Sharkwerks 3.9L conversion if you have a 997.1 Ranger |

I found these pictures of a strange GT3 RS on the 'ring earlier this month. I posted it in the GT3 RS picture thread, and the fender flares, splitter, wing, stripes, wheels and ride height all look strange. jcc2tx and I couldn't figure out what it was. And have owned a 997 GT2, both in black, saw the GT3-RS stock in action on the highway, amazing lound, when I saw it, it was stock, red wheels at this time, a month later he got his stock wheels painted black,was looking good, but now I don`t like it..... can`t wait to see it ;) |

that sounds awesome, but i canīt believe that! 500hp?? no way! the gt3 rsr racing version has less then 500hp (well with air restrictor i know). and i donīt think porsche will develop a new 4,0 liter street engine.... |
Seems like they keep rolling out with newer and better 911's off the line. Just have to wait and see what it does on the road... |
Well, I first heard a rumor about this, and then checked it with a friend that I was sure would know if it was true, and he confirmed it.. Of course I will not give up my source on this. Btw, if you remove the restrictor from the RSR, you get 580 hp... There is just 1 car like that here in Norway, Manthey removed the restrictor, and hello 580 hp :) so yes, I know this. |
in all honesty all these new versions that are coming out (GTS, GT3 RS Special) are frustrating to say the least cuz i just wanna see the SPEEDSTER happen...!!! |

I would think that the GT3RS customers will be a bit unhappy. A couple months back there was a thread stating the later 2011 RS's would come with an additional 33 bhp. It was mock but maybe it has relevence to this current special edition mentioned. 50 bhp is a lot of new power but what's really big IMO is a 4.0L engine. More potential. :yup: Ranger |
