Fifth gear GT3 RS

true, but he's also one of the best drivers in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), which is arguably the most competitive tin-top series on the planet. he knows a thing or two about car control.
in addition, they were doing the test at Bruntingthorpe, which has massively large run-off areas IIRC
haven't heard of anyone getting hurt at that track, except probably the 1,000HP 9ff that lost its brakes at the end of the main straight. i could be wrong...
and let's face it-- they were doing this shoot for Fifth Gear, and its not so easy to hear the commentary from behind a helmet!

yeah, im a bit prudish like that. but ive also seen tons of other car reviews where the professional test drivers are wearing lids. maybe an open face helmet with the microphone in the helmet, etc.
just too many guys out there running around with safety equipment less than ideal. its not so much necessarily for his own benefit but for anyone watching who tracks cars and somehow justifies skimping on safety gear.
it aint him. he's fantastic. but the $5.00/hour employee abroad at michelin that overcooked the tires during molding, resulting in a blowout at speed, is the one to worry about. or how about the fact that these are not the guys own personal cars. they are shopped aorund from one media center to the next for interviews, press pieces, demos. so who knows if he even checked the alignment, the bolts, the bits, etc.
anyway, i totally hear you. u hear me. on we go.
sick car thought, totally sick.
