Also, like I said Motor Trend is comparing a track designated car to a GT-R. The Vspec will level the playing field.
I see what you are saying, but my opinion is because this gtr offers no threat to mine especially performance wise and I also have had a g35 since it first came out, was one of the first to be extensively modding the vq motors too

Gtr has me curious, I would love to test one out!

cant compare a GTR to martins GT2
GT-2's are for true enthusiasts who respect the car
GT'R's are for people who want to tell their friends they do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds

Good write up and raises valid points. That said the counter point is the most expensive, fastest and powerful 911 ever built is better than the base model GTR which the reviews have said is better than all the others.

It'll be interesting to read the comparo's when the track spec cars the V-Spec and Evolution (which sit about the standard version and would compete directly with the GT3 and GT2) hit the ground.

The GT-R is a great car but I'm still keeping the turbo since that's been my dream car since the 930 turbo was introduced

I am not a hater of the GT-R. In fact, if I can get one at MSRP, I would buy it just to experience it. It is so cheap that one can buy it as a "beater" and not care where you park it, door dings, etc. Its a great deal based on specs, but then so is a Z06 (in some ways, the Z06 is more exotic with so much carbon fiber body parts), and I had one for a few months and sold it. To me, pure numbers are just that, pure numbers. The Z06 was as quick or quicker than a stock 997TT, but the steering feel, fit and finish, aesthetics are so much better in the Porsche. I do care about how a car looks inside and out, and how every control and surface feels. I am sure I can spend $10K on a Z06 today and it will faster then my modified 997TT, but numbers aren't everything.
