Woppum RS
#22
Thanks Guys. It has now been 1 hour under a week since i picked it up. In that time i have put a staggering 750 miles on her with an average mpg of 17. The trip to Brum last week from London saw 21mpg and as the engine is tight im sure ill be able to better it in due course.
I dont have a huge amount to say other that wow in every department.
Power
Ive said how fast it is already on this thread and pure statistics dont really do it justice. Third gear is absurd. On private roads i have seen very silly figures on this car. The neck has been rung through first, second, third and almost to fourth but most importantly coming in to the corners I have down shifted while heel and toeing back down to third, quick again to second then on the gas early on through the corner, bit of steering correction and back through second and third again. This feeling is incredible and having the stick and three pedals offers an experience no run of the mill Italian exotica can match today - not in speed and certainly not in feel.
The handling is very unusual to say the least. Get on the power too early and even those big 265 front cups cant stop the front from pushing wide. Come off the gas completely and you feel the chassis flex as the heavy arse wants to sqiggle round. You have to have just enough gas to carry the car perfectly through. Exiting out the corner is no problem, even 460bhp is controlled with 325 rear cups. When the tail does pop out it is so easy. What helps is you know exactly what the car is doing through sublime feel from, the brakes, steering, seats, engine and even the cage pinging in the back! The steering goes from really light on the straights to quite heavy in the corners. Again no car I have driven offers this much feel.
So does it live up to the hype and expectations?
Close to 700 miles in a week should sum that question up quite nicely. Its alot faster than i thought it would be, alot more refined inside too (very posh). Somehow its surpassed expectations to be honest. Its what i though plus another 15%, and 15% extra (as any racing driver will tell you) at this level is remarkable!
My trouble is going to be keeping the miles down so the car holds its value. At some point i will have to make a decision about how long i want to keep this car. A new RS is only 4 years away which promises another 100bhp and a V8 for the first time. If i only decide then the car will have lost over half its value. Thats what will eat up at me and that is the only draw back to this incredible car. I am sorry i simply cant express how good it is.
Bring it on Track!

Very nice... You're certainly clocking up the miles, though I'm not surprised.
Shame you couldn't make it to our breakfast event yesterday at Luton Hoo - I've uploaded a few shots. If you haven't seen them, follow this Teamspeed link:

Enjoy the RS.

A V8 for the GT3 RS Lets hope not.
Let they not make the same mistake BMW M made with the M3 V8.
The 6 cil GT3 engine is a perfect engine 450hp is enough let they concentrate on weightloss even further and keep the v8 for other cars.
Nice to see you use the RS where is made for.
