I've red all sites of this Thread(amazing pictures btw) and I think there is a missunderstanding about the "standing start" at the N'schleife lap.
I think there's a failure in the translation from german to english. In german you say "aus dem stand", which means like "driven the N'schleife lap without preperations, warm up etc.". When you translate it word by word, you can assume that they ment a standing start, but thats not correct.
In the 'sport auto' article, which is a famous german car magazine, they say exactly this "aus dem stand" when they speak about the 918 test.
