Finally picked up GT3!
Minus 10 but at least the roads were clear of snow! A bit of a car day, we picked up the GT3 then met friends and followed them to Luzern where they picked up their new X5. Given the conditions, I didn't push it, it was enough to be back in the familiar but different surrounds of a GT3 cabin. I think the gen 2 997 is a lovely place to be, a mixture of purpose with the alcantara, carbon, cage, harnesses and fire extinguisher, and comfort with leather, sat nav, ipod connection and bluetooth for the phone. My 996 GT3 was a comfort spec with recaros so I didn't realise how much the cage rattles and generally makes its own noises, all the better to remind you its there I guess
I need to drive it more in warmer, drier conditions but already you can see glimpses of its brilliance. The car is alive, the steering is quick and direct and unbelieveably communicative but never tiresome and pointy. The ride is stiff and in these temperatures the tyres did seem to want to find any of the ruts and tramlines, but I could forgive it that. The sport button liberates a deeper bassy howl in the exhaust at lower rpm, sheer spine tingling joy! I love it! A few pictures for those who are interested
