WOW - I want to work with you, constant, raw GT3 content is like a drug.

 

what an awesome build. This is the first time i've seen anyone putting OEM 997 stuff onto the 996.... thats awesome that it fits (more or less) and will improve performance while killing weight and i'm sure the price point (used at least) is very attractive!

Also - kudos for the new rear bumper. I always hate the rear end of 996 GT3's... just doesn't look aggressive enough.

Can't wait to see more!

 

With the motor undergoing surgery we're left with a few other things to do. Unfortunately when we got the car and inspected the brakes the zircon inserts for the pistons on the caliper were in bad shape and actually broken.... Rebuild time? Maybe... Instead we dusted off our Brembo GTR brake kit (which I've used many times on GT2's, GT3's and TT's). We actually saved some weight with these guys over the factory pieces thanks to the lightweight eight piston calipers and two piece rotors (slotted of course).





With the increase in size we had to test fit the wheels too:

Can't get any better than these brakes! Hope you'll be stuffing one of your strokers to take advantage of these beautiful brakes.

 

Such an awesome project, I'm looking forward to more updates and eventually some track vids.

 

I saw the car last week and was feeling a pang of jealousy. it's almost a sleeper with the 996 front end until you see the wheels :P Should be quite an amazing car to drive.

Is the suspension in good shape Alex? Any plans?

 

Ok so in-between the other 3.9 builds we've slowly been making progress on our 996GT3 build.

With the heads off we're down to the pistons now:

Pistons out and removed we're down to the rods (same Titanium ones as in the 997GT3).
