MB did this for a few years and I think (as stated) BMW does as well. Since it has an electronic dipstick they felt it wasn't needed.


-that is until they figured out the electronic ones aren't that reliable. Oooops. LOL

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I don't understand why anyone would get rid of something simple and proven like a physical dipstick... Especially when the electronic alternative can lead to catastrophic failure if the device itself fails.

Personally I would check the headlamp fluid before they burn out from the heat.

Also make sure your air pressure reservoir is full before any long distance trips.

It's not a big deal considering the question is already answered.

Hopefully he'll check his front quarter panel solenoid before he checks his oil.
